Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation

at Allergy & ENT Associates of Middle TN

What is Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation?

Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat benign Thyroid Nodules. Using ultrasound guided imaging, a small, needle-like probe is carefully placed into the thyroid nodule. Radiofrequency energy is delivered through the probe, generating heat that treats the targeted nodule tissue while minimizing damage to the surrounding healthy thyroid tissue.

As the treated nodule decreases in size, patients may experience improvements in symptoms of swallowing, neck pressure, or other discomfort caused by the nodule.

Who Performs This Procedure

Thyroid RFA is performed by Dr. Marissa Mencio in our Hermitage office, eliminating the need for an operating room or overnight hospital stay.

Why Choose RFA

For appropriately selected patients, Thyroid RFA can provide an alternative to traditional thyroid surgery with less downtime and a shorter recovery period.

If you have been diagnosed with a benign Thyroid Nodule and are interested in learning if RFA may be right for you, call our office at (615) 889-8802 to schedule a consultation with our team to discuss your treatment options.
