Dr. D. Scott Fortune was born in Southeastern Kentucky in the 20 bed hospital where his grandmother was a labor-delivery nurse. Dr. Fortune grew up in East Tennessee, living for six years in Clinton, TN, and for ten years in Knoxville, TN.
He attended Knoxville Webb High School, where he played football and basketball. Dr. Fortune attended Emory University in Atlanta and then graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1993. He completed his surgical internship and training in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery also at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Fortune is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
He has two children, Lucas and Anna, and his wife Mary Ellen has two children, Rebecca and Aaron. His hobbies include physical fitness (he is a "regular" at the Mount Juliet YMCA), reading (especially historical and literary fiction) and traveling (favorite travel stops include San Francisco, California and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada).
Dr. Fortune practices all areas of General Otolaryngology, and has special interest in Allergy, Asthma, Head and Neck Surgery, Skin Cancer Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, and Surgical Treatment for Hearing Loss.
